The relationship between the percentage of disability and the level of education in the city of Erbil

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationship between the percentage of disability and the level of education in the Kurdistan Region and that the study area is the city of Erbil, and the sample of the study consisted of (105) disabled and handicapped from the city of Erbil. The final results of the study sample were classified according to the type of their disability, as shown in Table (1).
For the purposes of the study, the researcher prepared two scales. The first measures the percentage of disability for the injured, according to medical reports and statistics of the organizations to which they belong. The second measures the level of study through the certificates they obtained. It shows that of (105) with disabilities, there is no higher degree (Master's and Ph.D.) and only two of them have a bachelor's degree, but the results of the study showed that disability is not the reason for dropping out of school and the low educational level of the disabled "according to the chi-square test"
This indicates that we accept the hypothesis of H0, that is, there is no relationship between the percentage of disability with the educational level of the disabled person.
In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommends the need to develop plans to open the door for admission to institutes and colleges in which the disabled have the right to complete their studies after passing the medical examination for admission, taking into account the necessity of facilitating the medical examination procedures, encouraging them to marry, and opening the way for them to drive the car for those who qualify for that in order to return to the Participation in the production process and within the resources and human energy and participation in the process of building in society and their role in that.
