Abstract

The transportation model is the most important linear programming model that is based on the economic transfer of the units produced at the lowest possible transportation cost and in the least possible time to meet the needs of those centers (Destinations) to the demand sites (sources) of production sources. The transportation model is complementary to the production process according to the production needs of these requirements. The process The transportation problem is one of the important mathematical methods that helped in the economic decision-making process for decision-makers and one of the most important economic problems facing production facilities, as they are justified by distributing goods or merchandise to the consumer.
The research aims to solve the transportation problem to determine the lowest possible transportation cost for all goods and in view of the lack of a specific method that gives an optimal solution except for the linear programming method, so the researcher tried to study the most important ways to solve transportation problems that give an optimal solution or a close to optimal solution and compare the results of these methods with The result of the linear programming is to find out any method that is identical or close to the result of the linear programming, by applying it on the ground by taking one of the oil derivatives represented by the product (fuel oil), which is transferred from the warehouses of the four central refineries to the warehouses of the governorates (Baghdad, Basra, Karbala, Babylon, kot) in order to reduce the total costs to a minimum.
The study came out with the following conclusions. We conclude through the researcher's study of the above-described transportation methods and their application on the ground. It was found through the extracted results that the best method is the linear programming method because it achieved the lowest possible total cost of transportation, which was valued at 179580, and that the method that came after linear programming is the method Zero, because it gave a solution close to optimum, its value was 180600, and from this we conclude that it is possible to rely on the zero method above because it gave a good solution and close to the optimal solution in the case of data related to the distribution of fuel oil from the warehouses of the Central Refineries Company to the governorates warehouses It is better than all the primary methods (Northwest Corner Method, Less Expensive Method, Vogel Method) and these methods gave a very high cost compared to the two previously mentioned methods. This method is considered one of the modern and very important methods for administrative and economic decision makers because it seeks to reduce transportation costs to the minimum possible. .
