The Role of Strategic Thinking in Achieving Strategic Lightness - An exploratory study of the opinions of managers in a sample of small and medium business organizations in Dohuk Governorate

The research aims to define the role of strategic thinking and its dimensions represented by (strategic intent, systemic perception, smart opportunities, thinking in time), as independent variables, and their impact on achieving strategic lightness as a dependent variable. In light of the continuous processes of change resulting from the instability of the environment surrounding business organizations, and the rapid progress in modern technologies and various means of communication, the concept of strategic lightness, or what is called strategic agility, has been made as an important tool to respond to these unexpected changes, and here the role of strategic thinking in Adopting this tool and activating it, as the time spent by the management in thinking is an investment that creates agility capable of accurately monitoring future opportunities and better utilization of energies and capabilities and working to direct them in a way that serves the excellence of the organization.
The research included in its theoretical framework two topics, the first topic dealt with strategic thinking and its dimensions, and the second topic dealt with strategic lightness, while the third topic included the field aspect of the research, which focused on defining the relationship between strategic thinking and the strategic lightness of a number of small and medium productive and service organizations in Dohuk governorate to be a field For the field application of the research, the two researchers adopted the method of the questionnaire as a main tool for collecting data and information in the practical aspect of the research, as (35) questionnaire forms were distributed to managers at all administrative levels, and the two researchers approved the SPSS statistical program to analyze data and obtain results.
In order to achieve the objectives and hypotheses of the research, a hypothetical model was developed that clarifies the nature of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables for the research. Based on the description of the research variables, their diagnosis, and the test of correlation and influence relationships, a number of conclusions were reached, which confirmed the existence of a correlation and moral influence between strategic thinking and strategic lightness in the researched organizations. In light of the conclusions reached, the research presented a number of proposals that are consistent with the conclusions reached, in a way that enables the researched organizations to benefit from them and avoid defects and shortcomings in the future.
