These events weakened the Turkish stance versus the British one at the League of Nations to regain Mosul Vilayet. The British government applied the above mentioned events as strong pretexts that the Kurds and Christians reject the Turkish rule. Furthermore, the British government claimed that the Turkish use of power and displacement of people were evidence that there was a constant concern about the fate of the people of the area. These events happened at a sensitive time while the League of Nations was preoccupied with discussing the final report of the Fact Finding Committee on the Mosul Vilayet.The above mentioned events were not covered by any historical sources other than Kurdish journalism, namely the two Kurdish news papers, Jiyanewa and Jiyan; they were the main sources for the information regarding these events. However, it is to be noted that Kurdish journalism was used as a tool for the British propaganda and was made as a bridge to convey the British message to the public opinion in South Kurdistan. Kurdish journalism was also used as a means to urge the people not to accept the Turkish rule by making a comparison between the Turkish and British policies in the region so as to beautify the British policy and eventually influence the people’s opinion when they take part in the referendum over ownership to the Mosul Vilayet.</p>}, number={2}, journal={Academic Journal of Nawroz University}, author={Othman, Khalil M.}, year={2017}, month={Jun.}, pages={423–429} }
