Abstract

The current study has concentrated on showing the impact of educational euphemisms on foreign language learners and teachers. Educational euphemistic expressions help both native and non-native speakers to use them in speech as tools for improving their formal communication. Nevertheless, these expressions can strongly affect people’s evaluation or opinions of the given situations. The findings suggest that euphemisms are powerful enough to affect one’s actual behavior. They show how using educational euphemistic expressions in learning and teaching processes affect one’s behavior. The study aims to crystalize on how euphemism in education affects English learners. To achieve the objectives of the study, a quantitative study is followed. In order to collect data, two questionnaires were administered to 78 students and 10 teachers of the Department of English Language-Faculty of Education at Koya University. The analysis of the obtained data revealed that both students and teachers use educational euphemisms in the process of learning and teaching. The findings showed that educational euphemistic expressions have impacts on the Kurd EFL learners and teachers.
