The impact of some economic crimes on economic growth in Mexico for the period (2000-2020)

Abstract

 Economic crimes (organized crime) have become a growing and dangerous international phenomenon, which aroused public opinion, the international community and economic researchers . This topic is considered one of the modern and important economic , legal and social disciplines , especially in the twenty-first century , and the rapid spread of these crimes and the negative effects they have (a waste of economic resources) , It made countries , institutions and international organizations unable to know the actual size of these crimes and know their methods and how to combat and eliminate them, and accordingly studies and scientific research focused on this area, and therefore this study aims to study some economic crimes and show their impact on economic growth in Mexico , the beginning of the theoretical narrative for economic crimes , the causes of their  spread and their effects , and a statement of their types (the crime of trafficking in illegal drugs , illegal arms trafficking , human trafficking , money laundering) , which are considered the illegal part of the informal economy, and which are not included in the accounts of the gross domestic product , because they are crimes characterized by secrecy and take place in secret , therefor difficult to monitor and measure , and then the narrative the Theoretical aspect of economic growth and previous studies, and finally the applied aspect (the standard model) is addressed through the growth rates of the model variables, and the dependent variable (economic growth) was chosen to determine the extent of damage to economic resources and economic growth, and the independent variable is economic crimes (non-drug trafficking illegal , human trafficking, and money laundering) , which is considered a waste of scarce available economic resources , and assuming that the relationship is inverse between the dependent variable and the independent variable, the study sample (Mexico) and for the limited period (2000-2020) and reliance on  data published in (W.B.) (DATAUNODC) (FATF) (UIF) , and the study reached a set of conclusions, including : The absence of a unified definition of economic crimes, due to its many characteristics and the emergence of different points of view , and that economic crimes are international  crimes that are modern and recurring ,and clarify their effected by specific economic crimes for a limited period .
