The role of lean manufacturing dimensions in improving environmental performance An exploratory study of the opinions of a sample of workers in the Hamid factory in Dohuk Governorate
The research deals with the issue of the dimensions of lean manufacturing as one of the modern topics that emerged as a result of the rapid developments in the business world, represented by the development of information systems, the spread of computers and the Internet worldwide, and their use in managing production and service organizations, which leads to an increase in the efficiency of their administrative work. This research sought to determine the correlation and effect relationships between the dimensions of lean manufacturing and the improvement of environmental performance in the researched industrial organization. The researcher used the questionnaire method as a main tool for collecting data and information with the use of a number of statistical methods to test hypotheses. In general, the researcher tried to answer the following question: What is the nature of the correlation and impact relationships between the dimensions of lean manufacturing and improving environmental performance in the researched organization? The researcher reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which is the existence of a significant correlation between the dimensions of lean manufacturing combined and the improvement of environmental performance in the researched organization. This indicates an increased interest of the management of the surveyed organization in the dimensions of lean manufacturing that will contribute to improving environmental performance. The researcher presented a number of recommendations in this regard, the most important of which is that it is necessary for the researched factory to benefit from modern technological development in improving the production processes of lean manufacturing to raise the level of quality of its products in addition to improving its environmental performance.
