Abstract

Coexistence in communities is based on respect and equality. Sometimes idols and elites have a role to achieve coexistence, most of Sheikhs of Barzan especially (The Second Sheikh Abdulsalam 1874 – 1914 and Sheikh Ahmad 1894 – 1969) had a main role in religious coexistence within Barzan region.

        In this research, we described the geography of Barzan region and the history of the Sheikhs of Barzan and their role in achieving religious coexistence. We also mentioned how sheikhs of Barzan defended Christians and Jews and by instructions and advices and their cooperation with them protected the coexistence in Barzan region.
