Preparing the Research Paper

  1. Initial Submission

After registration, the research paper needs to be prepared electronically in (doc., docx., or rtf.) format before sending it via online transmission system. The received file should be formatted in (doc., docx., or rtf.) in double columns on single page using Times New Roman font type, size 12. The authors’ names are removed because the evaluation process is confidential. If your paper is in a language other than English, then you need to provide the title, author's name, affiliation, and the abstract in English. List of references should be organized in APA style.

  1. Final Submission

After the research paper is accepted, the author must submit the final version of the accepted research paper in (doc., docx., or rtf.) format.  Note that any accepted research paper that does not conform to the guidelines of the journal will not be published.

 Mechanism of Submitting Research Papers

  1. The researcher must submit his research paper to the Academic Journal of Nawroz University in Microsoft Word format via theelectronic system of the journal. The researcher must commit to the requirements and terms stated on the journal website. Otherwise, the paper will be sent back to the researcher to make it meet the requirements (see the home page of either the Journal or the University websites). There is a tutorial video that can show you the process of submitting a research paper.
  2. The journal’s website requires the researcher to create an account before being able to upload the research paper to the electronic Visit the following link to create the account:

Publication Requirements and Rules

 

The researcher must abide by publishing requirements and rules approved by the journal. They are as follows:

  1. Requirements
  • Researcher’s name inKurdish and English languages (for papers written in Kurdish).
  • Researcher’s name inArabic and English languages (for papers written in Arabic).
  • Brief biography (Short Bio.).
  • Abstract in English (for papers written inKurdish and Arabic).
  • Title of the paper in English.
  • Name and the official email address of the researcher (account of the university or institution to which he is affiliated). If it is not available, the researcher’s must provide a Gmail account.
  • Writing five keywords inKurdish and English for research papers written in 
  • Writing five keywords inArabic and English for research papers written in 
  • Name of the university and college written in the same language alphabet of the paper and in English as well.
  • References must be listed following APA style.

 

Example:

  • Name of researcher, (year of publication). Title of the paper. Title of the journal, Volume (issue), page number (from-to).
  • If there are any footnotes, they must be moved to the end after the references list.

 

  1. Publication Rules
  • The numbering must be as follows:
  • Title
  • Heading (1.)
  • Sub-heading (1.1) included in the heading and so on.
  • The font type used must be (Arabic Typesetting), size 28 for the title, 14 for the headings, sub-headings, and the body while 12 for references if the paper is in Kurdish or Arabic.
  • The font type used should be (Book Antiqua), size 18 for the title, 10 for the headings, sub-headings, the body, and references if the paper is in English.
  • Line spacing should be 1.5.
  • No space should be left between the headings, subheadings, and the body.
  • Headings and sub-headings are written without a colon (:).
  • Use (Unicode) typing style for writing inKurdish  You can benefit from this website: http://soft-max.com/unicode
  • Mathematical figures, flowcharts, and tables must be in Word format. Pictures are not accepted except for maps and photographs, provided that they are in high resolution.
  • Sources of tables and figures are written using font size 12 below the table or the figure without leaving a space between the source and the table. Tables should be center aligned.
  • Spacing between the table and its title must be 1.5 without leaving space between them.

Journal Sections

Articles: Articles section is for original research articles present a scientific advance. These manuscripts should present well-rounded studies reporting innovative advances that further knowledge about a topic of importance to the fields of Science, Engineering, or Technology. The conclusions of the Original Research Article should clearly be supported by the results. These can be submitted as a full-length article (no more than 6000 words, 8 figures, 6 tables) with the Abstract should not exceed 200 words. Original Research Articles contain at least five sections:

  1. Abstract
  2. Introduction
  3. Materials and Methods
  4. Results
  5. Discussion

Review Articles: Review Articles provide a reasoned survey and examination of a particular subject of research in the fields of Science, Engineering or Technology. These can be submitted a long review (no more than 6,000 words, 8 figures, and 6 tables). They should include a critical assessment of the works cited, explanations of conflicts in the literature, and analysis of the field. The conclusion must discuss in detail the limitations of current knowledge, future directions to be pursued in research, and the overall importance of the topic in Science, Engineering, and Technology. The Abstract should not exceed 200 words. Reviews contain four sections:

  1. Abstract
  2. Introduction
  3. Topics (with headings and subheadings)
  4. Conclusions and Outlook

Letters: Letters are original research articles present scientific advance. These manuscripts should present well-rounded studies reporting innovative advances that further knowledge about a topic of importance to the fields of biology or medicine. The conclusions of the Original Research Article should clearly be supported by the results. These can be submitted as a Brief Communication (no more than 2,500 words, 3 figures, 2 tables). The Abstract should not exceed 150 words. Original Research Letters contain five sections:

  1. Abstract
  2. Introduction
  3. Materials and Methods
  4. Results
  5. Discussion

Articles: This is the main type of publication that AJNU will produce.

Review Articles: A critical, constructive analysis of the literature in a specific field through summary, classification, analysis, comparison.

PEER REVIEW POLICIES

At AJNU we are committed to prompt quality scientific work with local and global impacts. To maintain a high-quality publication, all submissions undergo a rigorous review process. Characteristics of the peer review process are as follows:

  • The journal peer review process is a "double-blind peer review".
  • Simultaneous submissions of the same manuscript to different journals will not be tolerated.
  • Manuscripts with contents outside the scope will not be considered for review.
  • Papers will be refereed by at least 2 experts as suggested by the editorial board.
  • In addition, Editors will have the option of seeking additional reviews when needed. The authors will be informed when Editors decide further review is required.
  • All publication decisions are made by the journal's Editors-in-Chief on the basis of the referees' reports. Authors of papers that are not accepted are notified promptly.
  • All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. We expect our Board of Reviewing Editors, Associate Editors and reviewers to treat manuscripts as confidential material as well.
  • Editors, Associate Editors, and reviewers involved in the review process should disclose conflicts of interest resulting from direct competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, and remove oneself from cases in which such conflicts preclude an objective evaluation. Privileged information or ideas that are obtained through peer review must not be used for competitive gain.
  • Our peer-review process is confidential and the identities of reviewers cannot be revealed.

Note: AJNU journal is a member of CrossRef and CrossRef services, e.g., CrossCheck. All manuscripts submitted will be checked for plagiarism (copying text or results from other sources) and self-plagiarism (duplicating substantial parts of the authors' own published work without giving the appropriate references) using the CrossCheck database. Plagiarism is not tolerated.

PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

AJNU Journal is published 4 times per year. Accepted papers are published online ahead of print. AJNU is e-published online with e-ISSN:  as/when the process of peer-reviewing in finalized. AJNU's hard-copy published with p-ISSN: quarterly with the first issue publishes the accepted papers during (January - March), the second issue publishes the accepted papers during (April - June), the third issue publishes the accepted papers during (July- September), and the fourth issue publishes the accepted papers during (October- December). The hard-copy of AJNUissues are published with all accepted online paper within each publication period.
