المستخلص
يعد استخدام تعابير أللغة الحذرة المعروفة باسم "التحوط"من أهم خصائص الكتابة العلمية باللغة الإنجليزية. إذ إن الإدراك المناسب لاستخدامها ووظيفتها أمر بالغ الأهمية للدقة العلمية ، والسلامة العلمية ، والعلاقة بين المؤلف والقارئ. إلا أن طلاب الكليات الدارسين للغة الإنجليزية بوصفها لغة أجنبية يواجهونصعوبات في التعرف على أدوات التحوطفي الكتابة الأكاديمية. تهدف الدراسة الحالية إلى فحص إدراك طلاب السنة النهائية بكليةطب الأسنانللوظيفة الدلالية / التداولية للتحوطات في الكتابة العلمية باللغة الإنجليزية للإجابة على سؤال البحث حول ما إذا كانوا قادرين على تقديم إداء مرض في مجال حساس مثل مجال العلوم، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار أنه من المفترض أن يكونوا طلابًا متقدمين تم تعليمهم باللغة الإنجليزية العلمية لمدة خمس سنوات. لهذا الغرض تم اختيار طلاب السنة النهائية للعام الدراسي 2020-2021. بلغ العدد الإجمالي للمشاركين 71 طالبًا. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الكمي لتصميمها، واختارت أداة لها الأستبيان المغلق، واستخدمت برنامج الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الإجتماعية (SPSS)،النسخة 25 لتحليل البيانات. أظهرت الدراسة أن الطلبة لم يقدموا أداء مرضياً. وهي نتيجة تدعو إلى القلق وتعني أن هناك حاجة إلى تعليمات واضحة في الكتابة العلمية باللغة الإنجليزية. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أنه يجب توجيه المزيد من الاهتمام نحو تدريس هذا الجانب باللغة الإنجليزية العلمية من أجل إعداد الطلاب للتعامل بشكل أفضل مع متطلبات الكتابة الأكاديمية / العلمية.
