The economic effects of some macroeconomic variables on unemployment in Iraq for the period (2003-2017): a standard study

The impact of economic variables on unemployment rates has become of interest to economists, financiers, academics and decision-makers at the present time, and this topic has been extensively discussed in recent years, but its results were different and unclear. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of macroeconomic variables. Expenditure, foreign direct investment, oil price, gross domestic product, inflation rate on unemployment rates in Iraq for the period (2003-2017) using statistical and standard analysis as the unit root test and the joint integration test. The results showed the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between the six macroeconomic variables and unemployment rates during the study period, while according to the results of the Kranger test of the causal relationship, the unemployment rate leads the gross domestic product and the inflation rate in Iraq and the insignificance of the relationship for the rest of the variables, and the study suggested providing a stable security and political environment from In order to achieve a rate of economic growth commensurate with the increase in population growth in order to achieve a reduction in unemployment rates.
