Cumhuriyet newspaper is one of the oldest unofficial newspapers in the history of the press of the Turkish Republic, and it has a wide readership base and a famous body of writers and editors. mentioned in it, and from the beginning of its issuance until the last quarter of the twentieth century, its position was consistent with the position of the government, and in the early nineties of the aforementioned century, especially after the 1991 uprising, the newspaper tended extensively towards dealing with issues and events related to the Kurdistan region of Iraq, whether in the form of news or expression position or analysis.
The newspaper focused on the 1991 uprising and its results, including the millions of emigration. The newspaper played an important role in communicating this tragedy to Turkey and the world. When UN Resolution 688 was issued and line 36 was drawn up, the newspaper focused on dealing with the issues and events that the region was the scene of, and sometimes Others were referring to the regional and international positions on the political events and articles that were taking place in Kurdistan, and the events were reported impartially, but after the succession of governments and the change of presidents in Turkey, the newspaper's positions changed, in general and with regard to the Kurdistan region.
