The obstacles that women face in practicing recreational sports in some parts of Erbil Governorate

The aim of the research is to identify the most important obstacles facing recreational sports participation. The research sample consisted of (880) women from some parts of Erbil Governorate. The researcher used the descriptive approach for its suitability and the nature of the research, and the questionnaire was chosen as a tool for collecting data after codifying it through the use of the validity of the content and apparent validity. The validity of constructing the questionnaire and extracting the distinctive strength of the paragraphs was also conducted, as well as its internal consistency between the paragraphs. The alpha on the building sample is composed of (80) women outside the research sample. The data were processed using the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation. The researcher concluded that the majority of the girls did not participate in any of the recreational physical activities. The arithmetic mean of the sample answers in the two axes is less than the hypothetical average and this indicates weakness Interest and practice in recreational sporting activity and through the axis of self-related obstacles, the paragraph (fear of not being able to exercise) appeared with the highest percentage of disability at a high degree, and the paragraph (lack of self-confidence) constituted the largest percentage of moderate disability, while the paragraph (weight gain) appeared To form a large percentage of disability with a low degree, and in the axis of obstacles related to the same person (public) appeared a paragraph (the Experienced trainers who do not work in sports centers) with the highest percentage of disability at a high degree, and the paragraph (sports centers are very crowded) constituted the largest percentage of average disability, while the paragraph (fees paid for expensive courses) came to constitute a large percentage of disability with a low degree. The researcher recommended the necessity of attention and fixing the right direction of work and interest in women’s sport and encouraging their participation in recreational sport because of its comfort for the soul and its positive repercussions on society and family, as well as increasing sports and competitive programs and spreading the spirit of cooperation that sport has a great health, social and psychological benefit.
